Lee writes that the item below
appeared in the Springfield News in
1956. Lee is the one putting
out the fire and everyone else had
the same opportunity. On Lee's
right is Dale Kaldahl and on Lee's
left is John Hales. Harry
Benninger is wearing the coat with
the white stripe on the sleeve.
In the front row, the boy with the
glasses might be Delbert Green.

Our Red Cross worker |
Sometime ago, March 1, Susan wrote
"Just got back from Wells, Nevada.
22 homes were destroyed in the
earthquake, but half the families
had already left the area by the
time we set up our service center.
It was not a federal job so the
other destroyed homes will get no
aid from anywhere, in terms of
agencies. We gave food for two
weeks, winter coats, some medication
replacements and a hotel for 2
weeks. People were great, weather
was cold and we had a 4.2 and 4.6
aftershock while I was there so I
actually experienced an aftershock.
It shook the bed but nothing fell
off the walls or anything dramatic.
March 21....Just a note to let you
know I am leaving Sat. 7 a.m. for
Paducah, KY to help with flooding.
You never know what will come up so
will drop you a note when I return.

Nancy wrote "We had a great time
in Tucson, as you could see from the
pictures. The Pedersen's have a
beautiful home. They were so
gracious. "
Nancy and her husband Dennis are

We are having fun looking for the
gold. And, we have found some. Not
a lot, but enough to say we got
gold!!Can't believe how fast the
time has gone since January. The
Skinners and Hinrichs are arriving
on Sat. or Sun. it will be another
fun week-end.

This one of our
many new FRIENDS!! Lucky for us he
was on the road and not where we
were digging for gold. And the
below is just one of the many
pictures I have taken of the
beautiful flowers!
