What a breath of spring
it was to drive out through the town of Marcola on Marcola Road to the old
Earnest covered bridge that crosses the Mohawk River. If you take a right
turn and drive through the bridge, you will come across this loving history
lesson conveyed to visitors by several local residents on about 30 bright
red hearts tacked to the picturesque, whitewashed fence that surrounds the
field. Note the burro (donkey) that was braying and watching us carefully.
What a treasure we stumbled on as we drove Brush Creek Road (Marcola
Road) to Sweet Home, Oregon (or you can go to Brownsville) to visit family.
This short trip is as
scenic as you will find in Western Oregon.
Enjoy! ...
